I am a member of our local chamber of commerce and each Friday morning we have a coffee meeting. Members are allowed to display advertising materials on a table. I started taking the pens I had ordered and put out 8 or 10. At the end of the meeting I noticed they were all gone. I increased the number and each week they were still all gone. I wasn't sure if they were just being picked up and thrown aside or actually used. I started looking around the room on Friday mornings and noticed a lot of my pens were in use. Then when a sign-up sheet came around from the chamber that had my pen as the one to use I knew they weren't just being tossed in a basket.
I have had a number of people tell me they got my name and number from the pens I distributed. Also, last year I handed out calendars to the chamber and other clients and it is very rewarding to see them on display when I go into the places of business. Again I have received calls from new clients who indicated they got my information from the calendar. I am sure I have more than made up the cost of the materials in new business. But most of all it is just exciting to see my name on an item being used by my fellow businessmen. |
